How to Install ICC Profiles in Mimaki RasterLink version 7
When you purchase a Mimaki printer, it comes with their RIP software RasterLink 7. Once you get the software installed and your printer configured, you’ll need to download some ICC profiles. These define the color space of the particular printer, mode, ink set, media, etc. and you can’t print without them.
All of the available profiles are downloadable from Mimaki’s website, or you can use their Profile Manager software that is integrated into RasterLink. I’ve recorded a short video to walk you through it.
Keep in mind, too, that you can also Export the profiles from the Profile Manager. These ICC profiles can also be used in any ICC compliant software, like any of the Adobe CC programs. Under the view menu in Photoshop, you can choose “Proof Colors” and choose your Mimaki printer profile to see what the artwork will look like when it goes through the color conversion in RasterLink – without actually changing the file. Now, there’s no surprises as the image preview matches the output (if you also have your monitor calibrated).
