Hahnemühle Photo Rag® Baryta 315 gsm is a pure cotton paper with an inkjet coating optimized for FineArt applications. The natural white paper has a pleasant, warm shade of white and contains no optical brighteners, while its exquisite surface texture gives it a lovely, delicate feel and an artistic note.
Combined with the high-gloss premium inkjet coating, it produces stunning results: outstanding reproduction of color and detail, deep blacks, and perfect contrast. The barium sulphate in the coating makes Photo Rag® Baryta a popular alternative to analogue baryta paper — pairing cotton artist paper with a high-gloss coating to give prints a striking character and a beautiful, elegant sheen, without glare. Acid- and lignin-free, it meets the most exacting requirements for age resistance.

Frequently asked questions
What is baryta paper?
Baryta paper has a coating containing barium sulphate, which gives it the deep blacks, high gloss, and tonal depth traditionally associated with darkroom (analogue) baryta photo paper. Photo Rag Baryta recreates that classic look for inkjet printing.
Is Photo Rag Baryta glossy or matte?
It has a high-gloss baryta surface, but the gloss is elegant rather than harsh — it produces a beautiful sheen without the glare of standard glossy photo paper.
What printers and inks is it compatible with?
Photo Rag Baryta works with both pigment and dye inkjet systems. ICC profiles for specific printers are available from Hahnemühle.
Is it archival?
Yes. It's 100% cotton, acid- and lignin-free, calcium-carbonate buffered, and ISO 9706 conform — museum quality for the highest age resistance.
