Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between FineArt Baryta and Photo Rag Baryta?
Both are high-gloss baryta papers with barium-sulfate coatings. FineArt Baryta (325 gsm) is α-cellulose based and bright white with a clearly visible felt texture, giving a crisp, punchy look. Photo Rag Baryta (315 gsm) is 100% cotton with a warmer white and smoother hand. Choose FineArt Baryta for maximum brightness and pop; Photo Rag Baryta for a warmer, cotton-based feel.
What is baryta paper?
Baryta paper has a coating containing barium sulfate, which recreates the deep blacks, gloss, and tonal depth of traditional darkroom (analogue) baryta photo paper — now for inkjet printing.
Does it contain optical brighteners?
It has a moderate OBA content, which contributes to its bright white point. If you require a zero-OBA paper for maximum archival neutrality, Photo Rag Baryta (no OBA) is the alternative.
What printers and inks is it compatible with?
FineArt Baryta works with both pigment and dye inkjet systems. ICC profiles for specific printers are available from Hahnemühle.
